David Perdue is the senior U.S. Senator for Georgia, a Republican, serving since 2015. He
is running for reelection in 2020.

Perdue has a B.S. in industrial engineering and an M.S. in operations research, both from
Georgia Tech.

After graduation Perdue worked for 12 years as a management consultant. He served as
VP of Asia operations at Sara Lee, and in 1998 became CEO of Reebok. He was known as
a turnaround specialist.

Perdue has received over $180,000 from oil, gas and coal interests since 2012. He favors
eliminating the EPA and promoting the energy industry. He opposes gun control, Common
Core standards, reproductive rights, and same-sex marriage. He wants to repeal the
Affordable Care Act. He claims that the national debt is the greatest threat to the security of
the United States, yet voted for Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy, thereby increasing the
national debt by one trillion dollars.

Perdue is one of Trump’s closest allies and votes with Trump 95% of the time. He urged
Trump to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate change. At the 2016 Faith and
Freedom Coalition's Road to Majority conference, Perdue led attendees in praying for
President Obama’s death. "We should pray for Barack Obama…Let his days be few and let
another have his office.” Perdue has not held a town hall during his senatorial tenure.

David Perdue is the cousin of Sonny Perdue, Trump’s Secretary of Agriculture. With a net
worth of $15.8 million, Perdue is one of the wealthiest members of the Senate.
